Day 51

Our sleeping room

The beds

Leslie and Pam's bed

The far bed

Our incredibly short door.
I think it was so short so as too keep the smoke inside the hut......

The fireplace in the hut, for keeping away mosquitoes?

Super sketch hot water heater...
That provided hot water via a fire...

Tooth brushing/sink facilities
with the shower room in the background

SPIDER TIME

He was eating some strawberry bread I believe......

Butterfly!

Bathroom

A squatter of course

Breakfast

The view was pretty amazing

Kitchen facilities

A huge wok, the biggest I have ever seen...
And
it was full of rancid oil.....
With bugs...
Which they cooked in....

A very blurry picture of the sinks

These flowers were actually huge, like 4 inches

Banana tree overlooking the sink

Spider's back!

Dima ordered food, and the bus driver picked it up for us (thank god!)

Look at that yummy smoky wok.....

Dima, just you know, crushing a tree!
(Helps that it was hollow)

Had to shimmy our way through some rocks

Megan had to give our guide a bit of a shove...

Everyone else!
It was a tight fit

Angel

The sacred tree

With a ladder

Climbing this tree, and going on this hike, made us official members of the Banu (?) tribe

Lizard just chilling on the rope!

Most interesting root/branch I have ever seen!

Just chilling

Working out way though the tree

Baby face spider

Aliman showing us the tree

This is the man who took out a loan to purchase the land.
The whole reason that this was set up for tourists is so that he can pay it back
Government assistance was offered, but refused.
They wanted to remain autonomous.

Digging

Still digging

We planted a tree that represented our time there

The whole area was full of little trees that people had planted

The leaves around the base were ceremonial
We each picked some, so they represented us

Pam watering our little guy

Tree!

We did this, while singing, to promote its tall growth and long life

Explaining how to make mochi

Dumping the rice in

Starting the crushification process

Going at it

Yum, crushed peanuts

Making it pretty!

PONCHO!

Neat knife sheath

Close-up

Megan and her battle with Poncho...
She might have been winning at this point... ;)

Buddah's hair fruit...
Seriously delish!

Arriving in Kenting

GOATS!

Giant ship in the distance

Woot woot

Weather detector thing...
Looks like a green soccer ball to me!

Dang it, I really wanted to stick around...

Installation art at the southern most point

sunset!

:)

I really liked this little eatery place

Love how this is normal here

Sunsets!

Lighthouse that has created tons of conflict

It was really necessary, but aboriginals were not happy about it

Pam died at this point

Oh, what's this?

Shoot....
Walking away now, quickly...

Little bird

End of October here... :)

Gorgeous sunset

Gift shop area temple...

YES, Mexican food for the win!

I kind love this lady...

At least they put it nicely! ;)

Trying to be as happy as that model...

Don't know if I can....

:)
